Have you thought about going on a refresher course mate?

Its something that helped me a while back after the birth of my daughter, a friend on here gave me the same advice and it worked a treat, if something has knocked your confidence then you need to find out what it is!

Trust your gear trust your instinct :thumbup1:

If I climb above 20ft I normally have to get down, any advice getting over this ?

Personally I just push my self past things. Not exactly been climbing long, only passed my course in November but due to my nerves I couldn't go above 30ft and was worried I'd struggle on the assessment so on the last day I pushed passed it and went on to 85-90ft and felt comfort and an enormous sense of achievement once I had got there. Just be methodical about everything you do and take your time, check and double check everything, trust in your equipment and most importantly, believe in yourself! it's just your nerves your battling but speaking from experience, in the right frame of mind you can overcome anything!!

Sounds stupid but I just put my MP3 player on and sing away to myself. Seems to work on those really ugly jobs. I still get nervy on some jobs even after 20+ years but I get so in to the music I often get to the end of the limb/top of the tree etc and wonder what I was worried about. Even better if you can go out on a few rec climbs where you're not under pressure to get the job done and you can take your time and chill out a little.
