But- the rebate wouldn't be abused if the retail price was higher than petrol. There would be no need to police it. No one is going to pay more for a product just to reduce the governments slice of the pie.

Yes I agree- get the price down but the question is how much safer is aspen compared to new 2 mix technology. If every last bit of fuel was burned, surely this would negate the need for aspen type fuel.

No one said it was going to be more than pump, the comparison was with red which is rebated below the price of derv

If the government rebates the tax on alkylate all that will do is support anglo americans price structure.

As we all know but maybe don't think about regularly. traditional 2 stroke engines are a bit polluting though powerful for their size. A reason they have been so successful. Enviro. legislation is forcing manufacturers to develop cleaner burn engines. Some (esp. Honda) have gone down the 4 stroke route but they are heavier. The air assisted injection makes for less unburnt fuel exiting the exhaust. To the point where the new 2 stroke engines are beginning to rival 4 stroke in clean running.

Is this true/ am I thinking straight/ does anyone know.

Anyway- I'd be interested to hear from any engineers on here who understand this subject better than my ramblings. Forget the price debate. Do we need aspen now we have a cleaner burn 2 stroke engine.

All I can say is try some Aspen for yourself and compare it with normal petrol mix, if your eyes have watered, your nose run like a tap or your head ache like the hang over from hell then I am sure you will find Aspen will work for you.

Maybe not if your up a tree on a windy day, you probably wouldnt even smell the fumes and may think "what is the fuss about".

If one smokes 20 fags a day it probably dont matter what fuel one uses and maybe leave you thinking why spent the extra on a clean fuel:confused1:

But when you come to take your saw apart for that five year plug change and blow over with an air line then find it needs a decoke:sneaky2: you will see just how clean Aspen burns, and of course you can leave it in the saw all year:thumbup1: without it going off.

Ok, many use their saws every day so fuel is not going to be in the saw long enough to go off, but you will need to change fuel lines etc because they just fall apart with the currant crap fuel and it will get worse in the future when they refine it (stretch that barrel into two barrels) and still charge us the same, no it will cost more because of course!! there is a shortage all down to "terrorism" Yer right who the F.... believes all that now :001_tt2:

Sorry for the moan especially at xmas, we use fuel we need fuel they all know it and will never make it cheaper like red, the only reason red is cheaper now is because it has been for so long and if government stopped that farmers would be up in arms big time and they all know it. That would be the straw that broke the camels back, and the sooner that back is broken......:thumbup1: BUT, thats another story
