As a beginner climber I sometimes struggle getting a good work position, so was just wondering if experienced climbers have any tips on how to wrap your legs around the branch to get a good position? Especially if there is no fork to get a foot/leg in.

Hi all, i am looking for some clarification. I climb with 2 strops up (VT pully)to my tie in point and then attach my main line (prussik) to the tree and work and descend from this. Is this an approved method? I find this the fastest method with the equipment I have. My reason for asking is I have a job interview with a practical trial and don't won't to lose out on a technicality.

Thanks in advance for any advice given!

I thought that and others I have spoke to think that, but I don't see how it is different than using a strop and mainline to ascend, at some points u will only be attached by strop! I always have my mainline clipped onto the back of my harness during the ascent.

Again thanks for your time.

What if there are no limbs for the first 20ft of the tree ?
