mate you really need to work for a good firm and do a lot of watching and learning, you may be able to climb but pruning doesn't come overnight. You need to know the importance of good cuts and good decisions for what the tree needs, you will only get this from working with people with experience. Most decent climbers start off being good groundsman and a good eye on the floor, then they know what they need to be doing in the tree. It's not something you can learn from books or arbtalk you need to work with people who can prune before you'll be able to prune yourself.Good luck with it,get with a good firm

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.

See you inside.
