we've just started doing gear checks (getting a colleguae to check /prussics/biners etc etc) and was just wondering what loler regs are on these things?what passes and fails due to wear and tare?

Surely if you don't really know what your looking for it's pointless doing gear checks. As a general rule I look at stuff and see what I think. If Im in any doubt I ask somebody with more experience about certain bits.

Yes.

can get a test on new, second hand or very old.

 

I may be wrong here but I,m sure someone will tell me if I am. Harness:scrap it after 5yr, climbing rope: scrap it after 2yr, prussik slings: scrap after 6months, and karabiners: scrap after 6 months also.
