Currently working in Sweden and now the winter has kicked in, the v.t. on the hitch climber isn't working too well on a frozen rope, does anyone have any suggestions without me having to use a prussik during the winter

Frozen ropes will wear prematurely. Ice is abrasive.

Keep them dry or switch to dry ropes.

I recall seeing this in Maximum Arrest Force training manual and alsoOn Rope by Smith and Padgett.

Hope this helps.

I love winter work but my finger tips don't.

I lube my hands up with an utter cream pre-climbs. This works well and is based on the same idea as your english channel swimmers greasing up with vaseline or some sort of petroleum jelly to create a barrier. This also works well to keep the pitch from binding to your hands. Easy clean up.
