Non GM EU, a myth

I know you lot think im a nutter, but we cant let this one slide, GM is a plot to intellectually steal the rights to seed, and farms and therefore the land of farmers by stealth. In the states 140 farmers lost their farms because cross contamination of their ORGANIC crop meant the seed from that crop was lawfully theft! this is a criminal plot of stealth and deceit driven by a select few multi billion pound corporations, they have no care for biodiversity and the nature of life, this is just WRONG, on a natural level, a long term food security level and even on a human rights level.

 

Dont let this happen or we will be paying a heavy heavy heavy price, they already own the health care industries, the petro chemicals and have government funding to persue an agenda that is elitist capitalism at the expense of the communities:thumbdown:

 

Support your local organic farms, farmers markets and please help me stop this madness

Tony, I feel a strange sense of admiration and pity for you. Pity for despite the nosedives, snubs, ridicules etc you've still not figured out that people will not listen unless they are ready to do so.

Personally I'm not that worried tbh, as I don't think there will be a place in this world for worldwide companies like the ones at play here for much longer.

farmers dont have the right to the seed anyway......they have to buy it in, they cannot use seed produce by themselves for nxt years crop... different varieties belong to different companies

Slasherscot, farmers can and do use there own produced seed but pay a royalty to the seed breeder for doing so. We set as side some of our beans from harvest time to sow in the spring.

This was a hot topic back in the 90's when I was studying at Uni, the biggest concern at the time was the production of GM seed stock that was drought tolerant but also produced non or low seed bearing plants, thefore the farmers (most in developing countries) became instantly reliable on buying in seed rather than having a sustainable source of seed year upon year from their own production. in many cases the inital seed was given away or sold very cheap, then after a few seasons prices where pushed up and the farmers had no choice... and like you noted the natural local varieties crossed with the GM plants and its off spring was poor in producing viable seed.... This is fact not conspiracy or rantings of a loon.... think on...
