I have a 261 for groundwork but its my only saw, as Im working freelance i feel i need a backup for the inevitable day when something breaks/fails.

Really dont want to spend a lot so just need something that will get me through the day if needs be. Was looking at some of the non-pro Stihls and Huskys which im aware of their ranges of saws but i keep seeing reviews on here for real cheapo saws (Aldi special etc) that some seem to say are up to a days work and Im thinking something like that would make a good backup?

I will only buy a new item that has good dealer backup, dont want to risk second hand eBay jobbies.

So any suggestions for a cheap backup saw?

Husqvarna 345 are pretty good saws and carry a punch in a lightweight package.

If you want an older saw the Husky Rancher or 266 are around the £100 -£120 mark but may need a little work to get them 100% but are solid saws.

Second hand 024 stihl.... same price as cheap new rubbish, uses same bars as the 261 and chain etc....

Funny enough i was just looking at one on ebay, the seller seems to talk the talk in which case id be happy getting second hand, your point about inter changeable spares/part is a valid point :thumbup1:

Get something from Spud. :001_smile:

His name did cross my mind! Read a fair few of his posts on here, so yet again, i dont mind buying second hand from a respectable source.
