Does anyone else have a bad ass smoking ford diesel, if so how did you cure it..apart from crushing it of course:thumbup:

What model and year bet its a tdci and i bet its a 1.6 and i bet it has a DPF

if so it is the fault of the injection equipment, not the engine, delphi i think

not always the DPf units were almost an after thought to the engine these engines also suffer with kknown turbo oil supply issues and due to the turbo and dpf unit being so close to each other duuring regeneration the heat loading on the turbo is increased this along with oil feed issues can cause them to fail prematurly and if oil vapour gets into the dpf it blocks quite fast also as you say there are issues with the injector seals and some other parts generaly its what comes from using a French engine lol !

Thanks for the reply, it's a 1.8 Zetec duratorq 06 plate . Smokes like a beast on cold mornings, wondered if it could be worn valve seals?

as far as i can tell it would not have a DPF on it so thats good

 

Colour of the smoke ?

if its black smoke it could be an injector on its way out

I saw o e this morning that was puffing out intermittent smoke clouds. Like it was only firing on 3 cylinders. Every other second a puff of black would come out....
