Stihl ms192t, my first topper!

Our 192 is a shoite to start when its cold out.

I always thought it a bit gutless too.

However, it is heaps better since I started to store the saws inside the house over night after getting damp and also we replaced the lightweight 40cm bar with a solid 35cm bar.

It needs a perfect chain every time or its just a motorised Silky...hhhh!

I've been using it since my tendonitus came back after loading trailers of heavy clay with a shovel.

The back has come off a few times too.

But the 880 and 660 are both "pro" saws, they are both very solidly built. I find weight for weight the 66 feels more power full,the 88 always feel a bit big and numb to me, so I don't really get your comparison.

 

My point is Huck, they are very different saws yet people keep comparing them, then end up giving the 192 a negative as a result. It never is going to do what a 200 will, but thats the point, it was never designed to. A bit like any other two totally different saws you would like to compare.

 

It is great as a backup, or a starter saw, but in an ideal world it should be run as an "extra" saw for prunings, thinnings, or even the domestic market in the rest of the world.

It's sold as a semi pro in NZ so aimed somewhere between domestic and pro. It wouldn't cut the mustard as our full time climbing saw but, as you said, great as our back up for doing streets full of Cherry tree lifts and smaller work like that.

Iv tried on eBay to find one i came across a couple in France but they won't send to uk, does anyone no any good French dealers who will send one?

I'm going to the Netherlands on saturday and can send you one from there if you like, have done so before for another AT user with no issues. Cost about £325 inc postage and vat (but no bar and chain, Messrs Jones are cheaper...) I believe.

Update, she has just done 3 solid days conni topping and did a fantastic job! I wish everyone would stop with their bitching about these saws. They are not 200t's and not designed with the same task in mind. Only good comments on 192t's on this thread, park your prejudice at the door!

Today she proved herself again, this time on an Oak dismantle (only the limbs) upto 9" diameter. Marvelous!
