the government feel it is appropriate to fund opera (not the arts just Opera) to the tune of 28 million.

 

they want to cut the FC funding from 20 million to 13million.

 

 

what do you all think of those priorities?

Could be worse, try 6 trillion in less than four years. If CG continues to spend a digitized the currency via the Fed reserve and US Treasury over here the USA will be up to over 20 trillion. If its a competition for waste we win and loose at the same time.

I wonder how many see this in reverse? For example, why should opera suffer at the expense of a few trees here and there? I also recall the furore over the heavily subsidised FC compared to the private sector...can't have it all ways can we?

the FC produce 70 million in revenue, If wegoing to start saying cant have it all thn we need some figures for revenue INTO PUBLIC PURSES from Opera. and compare input/outputs.

It does not matter what side of the pond were on. If the funds are not available than it is up to the free market to provide for a mechanism to allow the Arts or what ever to pay their own way:thumbup1:

How much tax will the people in your average audience at the Opera pay?? How many people will their business employ?? How many privately educate their children and pay for private health care, while still paying NI , but hey lets not let them benefit in anyway from all the tax's they pay lets just keep giving more and more to the free loading spongers who spend their whole taking and never giving.
