Yeah all prunus I don't know why I called it a malus it had natural failures on it so I just done the same on the other branches to match in very weak tree would have failed on its own .

I know what your saying it had to be done if it dies then it dies it was about to split out if it was a healthy tree I wouldn't have pruned it their was outher trees near this one that were healthy and no work required .

Yep that's right and more susceptible to bacterial canker.
