Hi everyone,

I have recently replaced the hydraulic pump and reservoir on my truck tipper. When i let the tipper down the oil foams out of the air breather on the reservoir, I assume there is air in the system? does anyone know how i go about bleeding the sytem??

Any help would be great?

Thanks

Joe

Hi,

I dont think so, when i lift the bed up, the ram wont go all the way up because there isnt enough oil, so when i fill it a little more it overflows. Thats why i assume there is air??

Thanks for your reply

To bleed it lower the tipper, crack the nut connecting the hose to the ram and press the tip button. If there is air in the hose it will bubble out.

Tbh there will only be a tiny amount of air in there anyway, and it will get pushed out with continued use anyway.

Is there a breather vent on your new tank to allow air in when tipping and out when lowering?

Sounds like your new tank is too small.

Is the new reservoir big enough to cope with you ram? You shouldn't need to do any bleeding - the pressure in the system should be sufficient to sort that itself. It sounds like your ram's oil capacity may be greater than your new reservoir.

You cant bleed the system but the air will work its own way out by itself, the frothing is caused by the air escaping, try letting the body down in stages to give the oil a chance to settle

Thanks everyone for replies.

There is a breather in the cap on the reservoir. The tank is exactly the same size as the one i replaced? i have been lifting and lowering the deck to try push the air out, should i refill the tank when the ram is right down?
