I am based in Hampshire but work regularly in Norfolk/suffolk area as my dad has a fishery there. From what some of the staff say there ash trees seem to be affected and looking at the map it location seams to correct. I ve planned to go there with a team in Jan can I ask what sort of control measures should we employ as i dont want to increase spread etc.

fire wood shortage on horizon very worrying that we could lose all this timber for logs

they continue to permit movements within Great Britain of all ash timber, which poses a very low risk of disease transmission;

* Although there are no specific measures on logs and firewood in the legislation, the general prohibition on spreading Chalara fraxinea means that movement is prohibited within Great Britain of logs and firewood from woodlands and sites with confirmed Chalara fraxinea infection which have been served with a Statutory Plant Health Notice.

Such a shame with all the modern technology that they don't put this on Google Earth, it would be so much better to zoom right in on the exact location. I tried enlarging it and it just turns to a blur.

I think that perhaps there are bio security issues surrounding some of the sites Andy, also a portion of these sites will be privately owned.

Not sure that's enough of a reason to keep the sites relatively vague, but they are fairly spot on in terms of map position (even though unclear in quality)

I would think that the following link should help.

Have a look at point 2.1.2

I know that Julian Evans and other well informed forestry professionals will be gathering tomorrow for a emergency meeting to discus what options we have to deal with the Chalara spread. So hopefully we will have more specific info on what we can do and whats going to be done.

Worrying times.
