Top felling Mr. Bullman!

Must say you don't waste time between cuts with the 020!

Why did you fell it so low? Have you got a use for the butt?

Unrelated, but does anyone else like taking the heads out above their main anchor first, or am I a weirdo? Can be a pain to get them down but for some reason it makes the rest of the job seem easy.

Nice work.

if im at the very tip of a poplar or something and a little unhappy about being there i'll knock the top off first to make it a little more stable.

mark, beech are best felled low, if you leave the hinge at a point with a good buttress root you can pretty much hold the tree in any direction.

i usually leave it to last, i dont like the way a stem moves once the top is out it, it doesnt have a nice sway in it. and i have been caught out before. not leaving enough and if i have to go well out on a lower limb and my rope starts to move up it can be quite un nerving. and usually you go back up to disc down anyway, plus i get a good feeling once i have knocked the head out and you turn off the saw and enjoy the view. very satisfying:001_smile:
