Non protective climbing boots.

I don't think you be disappointed mate with the crestas. They are snug but get conifer every day. My only gripe is that the ankle is a bit lower than my airstreams which aids movement.

In my case I had a bit of a fall and damaged the ligaments in my left ankle about 7-8 months ago. It's getting better but still aches a bit pruning in these boots. Especially after a long day.

cheers rich, i've only heard good things about them so i'm looking forward to trying them out.

i see what you mean about being low cut at the back though, i guess like you say its to allow more movement but thats at the expense of a bit of support.

How are yours holding up so far?

ive had my salewas 2 - 3 months now and theyre not holding up very well, ive broken off 3 eyelets already. theyre really good in the tree but i just don't think theyre up to working every day. it's a shame as they are really nice boots. ive got a pair of akus like rich's on the way and im hoping theyre as good as i've been told and as well built as they look.

same here bro, the newer versions have been changed and not as tree happy as the old style.eyelets broke off mine too. its a shame as the old ones were super comfortable and lasted really well.

Ewan-were those the ALP trainer model? think they are the superlightweight ones and def wouldnt stand up to lots of treeclimbing

Pretty well mate. I don't wear them everyday to climb in by have done a few large rj's in them and grippy is a word I'd use.

John Shutler has had a pair for quite a while and would be better to comment on the longevity.

Where did you get them from?

I've been wearing akus for about 4 years. I've had 2 pairs of crodas and I'm on my first pair of crestas. I wear them all day everyday and are super comfy. The crodas don't seem to be wearing as well as my old crestas, I've had them since June. I will definately be getting another pair when these are done

yeah, its a real shame about the salewas as they are really nice boots. at least youve had the same problems drew and i didnt just get a dodgy pair.

I got them from the outdoor warehouse which i guess is the same place as you rich. not sure if i paid a bit too much but i couldnt find them anywhere else.

Glad to hear youve got good things to say about the crestas john, i'm looking forward to giving them a try when they arrive, i bet your glad you couldnt get hold of the salewas now!

I actually ordered a pair from the outdoor warehouse only to have him email me the next day - not in my size.

I ended up speaking to the uk importer and asked who had the last batch of them. It was a company in Windermere. Saved myself over 50 quid as they were knocking them out for 145 plus p&p.
