Now Jim has clarified the price issue with a bit of Arbtalk discount as well I am wondering who has used one of the Riko grabs and how does it stack up against the Albutt.

 

The Riko is cheaper but it only has one top clamping arm, if it clamps all the way down so that logs are held tight against the forks then is should be pretty ok.

 

Will see what I can find on Utube as well.

We use a Matbro with a modified jappa grab enabling us to pick up 3mt lengths of cracked timber. The rack holds about 90 lengths of cracked timber which produces about 15 CuMt of split logs.

i've used one briefly thats y i suggested and it was good the beak comes allthe way down until flat against the backplate of the forks so any size timber can be held secure and can be used in reverse for pushing things off the tines gently rather than dropping them

Caledonian Forestry do a grab and rotator attachment for tractor front loader or Telehandler. I have seen them made up to suit a forklift or bobcat. They're not as quick as loading up with the forks but certainly a whole lot safer!

Probably around the same price as a cheap chinese crane though.

Albutt are just down the road from me and i has seen how these are made and also have the log grab itself and i have to say its very very well made. I also have had some Riko equipement in the past, put it this way, its cheaper but if i had to charge my time out on the amount of hours i spent rebuilding/modifying and welding back together the Riko kit, it would work out far more expensive.

Albutt also do the little grab for front loaders as well. Cant recommend Albutt more highly. Riko hmmmm!

Its almost worth lending you a set of these pallet forks, I dont think even you could break them!

Hi Jim, Im not, A comparison was asked between your grab and the Albutt grab. I looked at both the grabs before i bought mine and the build quality is far better on the Albutt. Its just fact dont take offence.
