Powerline Identification

The pole pictured is BT. Powerline poles do not have the metal triangle 'steps'. Powerline configurations vary between providers but round me lines orgainsed vertically on a wooden pole (similare to above)are low voltage, anythinh up to 1000v. Lines organised horizontally on wooden pole are HV 11kv or 33kv.

But there are always odd set ups that arn't ther norm.

With weston power you can ring up about stuff near the lines and they will send a contractor out free of charge, so worth ringing the provider

There are a few utility poles in my area that have steps on them, but I would agree it looks like BT cable from the picture. Get someone to check properly, not by a picture as we already have two different views.

I'm just going to jump in here, this line here I assume is a BT line? There's no sort of conductors that I can see. Plus it's resting in a few trees.

 

Utility poles should have two yellow warning signs just above head height, although obviously they could be removed.

Thanks Alvin, Went to look at them today and could only see one sign that said SEEBOARD- So im guessing now EDF however there was nothing else giving power, contact numbers etc.

 

It has 3 strands off a single wooden post (like a BT pole), I forgot to take any pictures but can anyone hazard a guess at the power of them?

 

If the wires are above each other it's probably lv, up to 1kv if there side by side hv above 1kv

Top picture, upper 3 phase concentric cable 415v (insulated), lower cable BT.

 

Bottom Picture, top three conductors 3 phases, 4th down Neutral. So max 415 / 440v between phases, 230 /240 to earth. Lower cable BT.

 

Both BT cables look big, I would think there's a lot of phone lines in them.

It looks like the power and phone to one house. So top cabling 230 / 240 volt insulated concentric and the lower a single BT line.
