Thieving ***** ***** have come in overnight and had our three saws from Ewhurst in Surrey, MS261 16 inch. Serial 180705715 2 years old MS291 18 inch. Serial 176823786 less than a year old. And MS181 14 inch about 5 years old Police have been round and been ******* useless as ever. We have a good idea who has done it, but is it worth starting a war with these scum?

Thanks for the quick reply, it's got a separate tank and pump. Looking through some pics I have found I think the crane is a highland bear.

Afternoon all, We have just changed a couple of hoses on our county crane and found that the oil needs changing. I cannot find the spec anywhere. Should it be 32 hydraulic oil or a universal tractor oil? Cheers Graham

I just cannot see why there is the LV running to those 11KV poles. Unless at some point in the past there used to be a transformer on it.

Fair point, i did think that the 'BT' looked big. Where about's in the country did you take these? I've not seen 11kv run like that before, in either instance. The Electricity Boards never cease to amaze me with some of the things they do.

It looks like the power and phone to one house. So top cabling 230 / 240 volt insulated concentric and the lower a single BT line.

Top picture, upper 3 phase concentric cable 415v (insulated), lower cable BT. Bottom Picture, top three conductors 3 phases, 4th down Neutral. So max 415 / 440v between phases, 230 /240 to earth. Lower cable BT. Both BT cables look big, I would think there's a lot of phone lines in them.

I have no seasoned wood available. However the landowner cut some summer 2011, which is still out in the woods. Probably between 10 to 15 cord. He has another stack cut December 2010 of about 4 cord.

Well pointed out, that is more what I was thinking price wise. So bang on the delivery and around the 100 mark would be about right.

Only talking in cords because that's what I grew up with the Old man selling in, so that's the reference in my head. Still trying to get my head round this metric stuff.

Lads, Thanks for the responses. WorcsWuss, your idea is along the lines I'm thinking of going with this one. I don't want to process logs myself, there's enough people doing that our way already. So I am thinking that local delivery with Tractor and trailer (our trailer takes a cord). I just need to work out pricing. Based on the figures given by delabodge and an average weight of wood I found on another site, Average Density of hardwood 600 kg per cubic metre 1 cord, 128 cu ft = 3.62 cu metres 1 cord weighs 2172 kg At £35-£50 a ton = £76 - £108 a cord I just think that £76 - £108 a cord sounds high? Plus there would be a bit added for delivery.

This year I will have I will have too much cordwood for my own use. I've spoken to a couple of chaps that use processors and they are only interested in the cord if it's in 7 foot lengths. Is this bollocks or is it the norm? We still cut in 4 foot lengths for ease of handling and the people we have spoken to don't seem interested. What's a reasonable price to expect for a cord of mixed hardwood consisting of Oak, Ash, Willow, Birch, Hazel and Alder?

Friday's Job was going to be, clear the Hazel through the bottom so that everything else could be felld down the bank later. Greeted by this, plans had to change. That was 8.30am it kept rising till about 1pm, and was lapping round the chord wood pile in the bottom.

Must have too much time at the moment with the long nights. Prestige One Level 32 already! Last weekends double XP helped.
