You your Romans are dying I don't think there gonna be any left in Salford soon there all joshing it ..I've got years supply of firewood out of them though due to the fact we cut about 20 down last year and there will be more this year .. Don't know what it is but it spreads like hell :(

Just gonna add to the thread to see if anyone got some more decent ideas about all of our rowans jossing it here's adjust a few I've took over the couple of weeks. Forget about drought, and stakes and ties not being remove the trees are die in groups of sometimes hole woods,roads and estates even being affected first signs are cracking bark leading to central canopy collapsing and eventually roots rotting and the tree falls over in the wind. I've had to go inspect 3 or more rowans falling over on the same estate due to the same pathogen

Typical of decline in sorbus. We have alot of them as street trees & we see that all too often, along with the absence of enough roots to keep them stable.

They seem to fair better planted in grassland on public open space & parks.
