the "C" stands for made in China. they are made under licence there, and normally only intended for comunist block sale, alot coming on the market at the moment.

"C" stands for "Comfort" - I guess that just means it's got a decomp valve and an elastostart starter handle!

 

Excellent, I'm a bit soft and love the decompression valve...

 

i have an almost brand new 576xp on arbtrader and that pulls the 24 inch bar with ease. check it out

That's what I was hoping for....

 

Do the bigger chassis Stihls have different bar mount patterns ton the smaller ones? I have an 18" bar lying around somewhere but I think it's for a smaller saw, will it fit, oiler holes line up etc?

The 'C' means it has a cat muffler, meaning it will be down on power and running hot. New standard muffler, retune, sorted.

Aha... less good then.... still, as you say, easily sorted....

 

Is the re-tune as easy as re-setting the screws to standard 460 settings or is there more to it than that...? Can I do it myself is what I'm asking....

Sorry, couldn't help myself! All joking aside, it is one of the finest saws ever made, and i have run with 25" bar, felling hundreds of cube in + size beech for years! fallen from the skidder cab many times, robust and well powered, what more do you need? well maybe heated handles?

i have had mine ported for a year and run 18 inch bar on it, and it still amazes me at how fast it cuts, amazing saw it is:thumbup:
