Evening All,

I am in the market for a Combi system for general landscape duties. Looking at hedge cutter, bed edger, pole saw and possible cultivator. Anyone care to give some feedback on the various options i.e. Stihl, Echo or Husky and any pros and cons.

Many thanks.

I've got an older Stihl.

KM85 I think with hedge cutter head, strimmer/brushcutter and pole saw.

It's one of my most used pieces of kit.

The blower is fab as well but I don't own one, just used one.

It starts like a dream, works well and packs down so it's easy to transport.

Highly recommended.

Thanks for the reply Timbur, I am leaning towards a Stihl combi, but open to others. I have heard some good reports about the Echos ( especially price ) The ideas is to keep it all in our grounds maintenace van, so that we always have what is needed when we get to commercial sites on monthly visits.

Sounds ideal then.

I've gor a Fourtrak jeep so am going to build a covered area in the boot to slide all the bits in and stop them having other kit sat directly on top of them. It'll keep them covered from prying eyes as well.

I had an expensive mistake bending a hedgecutter bar and cutters which borked them. Not a problem on a Kombi system as they only use short cutters.

I have two Stihl km100 with various attachments. Having no end of problems with the older power unit (approx 2008), but when they do work they are great bits of kit.

Do you know why? I was looking into them a yr or so back and heard there was problems with the power unit and the attachment so didnt really look any further.

It seems to be the tappet settings not staying put, spud may be able to elaborate.

Not really had many problems with the attachments although them to seat properly in he coupling can sometimes be a pain in the arse.
