GreenMech's Manufacturing Pedigree.

Following on from a recent thread about factory tours etc at GreenMech, i decided to reflect on the 50 years (next spring to be precise) of manufacturing at the GreenMech factory site.

 

We made flail mowers of different sizes for many years before Turner Engineering was amalgamated to become Bomford Turners. At that time there was a three shift set up employing some 200 people.

 

We also made (under licence) the Turner Ranger which did win a design award and were well ahead of the game - now prized by the tractor people.

 

We made the Elswick Envoy, a wheelchair carrier which had the bodies made by Reliant at their factory in Tamworth.

 

We have made the small airplane tugs too.

 

The Nickerson Turfmaster was also from this site.

1st ever flail i used was a bomproof bomford about 17 year ago it was a good age then and as far as i know it still works now, when did you start manufacturing woodchippers? any photos of them early beasts?

about 4 years ago i went and looked at a turner wood chipper it look old did have a safety bar reto fitted was yellow and black the guy told me its a right beast and it look it to only thing but me off it looked very heavy to tow it had a david brown tractor engine on it

Mine has 3 wheels (including the jockey) and is largely made of plastic too

Still, a future icon of British industry I believe.

We have one of those pedestrian flail mowers. A Turner 30 M (inches) anyone know were we could look up parts? lacking a belt guard.

Get it made by a local fabrication company or good Agri Engineer.

Will make myself but would be good to know what it looks like, try and keep looking original. Few years ago we made a head for a Turner sidesift flail hedgecutter, but we had the pattern to copy.

Hi, I just bought a Turner Ranger.  Is there any information or records about specific vehicles?  I would like to research the machine and also implements that can be attached....especially a digger.
