I tend to axe out a large rough spoon or bowl shape and then refine the shape with knives until I am happy.

thats great i like the look of the spalt. ive made acouple of spoons and some kuksa's but im too embaressed to put them on yet going to get myself a mora 106 and see if it improves my efforts
