Professional Tree Inspection Course

Hi guys,

 

I'm looking into booking in for the PTI course soon but I havn't it a clue as to the level of knowledge they expect you to have before hand.

Its a 3 day course IIRC but is there training involved or is it just an uber long assessment?

2 & a half days of going through what is expected with an inspection & how to record it plus looking at legislation & briefly on biomechanics & fungi.

 

Then half a day of fungi id test, a 20 (or so) question exam & then a 2 tree inspection.

 

My understanding is that you should already have industry experience in working with/looking at trees. But I know of people who have gone through the PTI with little experience & passed, and aslo know of people with a good deal of experience who have had to take a couple of shots at it to get through.

 

There will be a useful course work book which will almost give you all you need to get through the the written test.

The fungi Id part is open book so you can use reference material.

 

If you haven't already, check out the Arbtalk fungi Id app, it would probably be quite useful for the PTI

Someone pipped me to the post for the last place. I'm on reserve list, bit gutted I can't attend

I don't think there is a P&D list for the PTI assessment. It's open-book except for the fungal ID part. Anyone with a good memory could pass the written assessment without knowing anything much about trees but will get a serious fright when then going out unaccompanied to survey trees, either during the practical assessment or afterwards.
