I may be looking to buy a Jensen chipper either a A540 7" or A340 9", Could any owners/opperators give me their views please, good and bad if any. They look tidy and no doubt chip well when new, its long term im interested in.

I have only used elderly tracked versions . They are heavy at 1.5t and 2.6t respectively. They chip well and the smaller one has been reliable the larger has needed regular repairs and bearings are a strange size, available from Redwood but parts are pricey. They both have long narrow feed chutes which make feeding branchy material like thorn difficult compared with the GM 1928. The larger machine seldom has the stress control cut in unless on material above 7". The fuel tank only lasts a day with heavy chipping ( about 30 litres at a guess).

The caveat is that I very seldom use chippers at all nowadays.

Thank you:)

We have a 540A 7/8" and it has been reliable to date . South African Charles ( who used to work for Red Wood) Sharpens the rollers on a regular basis . This is essential for the efficient drag in of brash . The only slight and occasional problem, is sometimes some debree will get trapped under the floating ,right hand (as you look in the shoot ) top roller spigot and can hold the rollers slightly apart . This is cured by feeding a big log in . No other problems .
