This was the first time I've been down the woods for almost three years. I normally spend a little time down here, post Christmas as it helps blow the cobwebs away. It’s a nice little wood, made up of mainly Oak and Ash. The Ash hasn’t been coppiced for nearly 25 years so its well over-due for a little work.

 

The woodland has been planted over some ridge and furrow and has been suffering from poor drainage, particularly in the furrows; this has resulted in many of the Oaks becoming stressed. (A great many have died due to Honey fungus). The logs go for sale at the local farm shop.

 

Still, a good mornings work and enjoyed it immensely!
