Working for family.

So after cutting a hedge for a family member and doing a few other jobs for other family members in the past today I've discoverd they have all been (naughty word I can't use) me off behind my back.....

 

It's a sad affair and I don't like it as I like doing work for family for a few beers or a BBQ now and again but I'm stopping it all now.

 

Now I will price any work and treat it as a normal client and working.

 

Anyone else had this or does this. I thought family where better than this but obviously not. Now I will stick to my old bosses words and never work for family.

Friends and family soon stop. There's no money in it and they moan about everything even though it's free!

Yeah tell me about it. The hedge I was cutting was a 150 job, I soon quoted it at that and the stink it kicked up was tremendous, my reply was if you don't like the price find someone else..

 

They did and it looks awfull.

 

I normally dont mind doing a few jobs hear and there as its a family thing. But not anymore.

Trouble with friends neighbors and families is that they love you when your doing the work , but as soon as you say I can't do it as I 'm busy at the moment . They tend to think your being a bit off . I will work for real friends and decent family members . They always offer money and I always refuse . Its the offer that counts

its a tough one isnt it. I do around 75 meters of hedging for a familly member and the price would be in the hundreds but I get paid £75 it's shamefull, I just have to bite my lip and get on with it.

I don't mind working for family or friends. The rule is, 'It's free and I'll endeavour to get it done before Christmas, or you pay the market rate and we'll book you in.'

I hate working for less than the job is worth. I really enjoy working for people I love, so better to do for nowt but a good meal and a quick snooze on their couch. Moan and I'm gone. Hasn't happened yet. (The moaning that is.)

Working for family or friends can be a nightmare, depends on the people. Can they return the favour? I never minded, but then I would never be shy when asking for a lift to the airport or help in a breakdown or a favour to cover previous assistance.

i used to do my brothers trees and take logs to him he was on 40+k a year even when i was struggling for money id take him logs he never even offered to pay fuel

he buys coal now and stuff his trees ive people willing to pay me to do it now so leave alone imo
