Leylandi stumps

I am doing a little conny bashing this weekend. There is no necessity to remove the stumps immediately. I plan on cutting them down to ground level for the time being. Obviously these will decay over time (all stumps 10-12" diameter). Our there any accelerates to aid the decay process that can be purchased on the domestic market and our best suited to leylandi?

Cut or drill the stumps and bag them with some Garotta compost accelerator spread on top.

i had a job with 20 leylandi dismantle and remove, hired a 1.5 tonne mini digger for a day and removed them, bill came in for the digger 120 quid.....just a thought , it just beats waiting for them to rot.

 

Yep.. i agree. although we had a similar job and hired a bloke and digger for similar money. that way we stood and watched him dig out the roots....

There is a French way of stump removal which involves drilling holes then pouring 'Lait Ribot' a kind of vile yoghurt drunk by Bretons.

It tastes like vomit from the last lepper in hell and has no effect at all on the decay rate but it is promoted as an 'ecologic' method of stump removal.
