Got to say I always thought my area was scarce on arborists but lately I've seen a lot of vans and tippers goin round.

I few are new with brand new sign writing on them others are old banged up wagons.

Saturated industry or not, it's still an industry that people want to get into, just like they want to get into heaps of other industries. And for people to get the qualifications, then the college courses need to be available, and for the college courses to be available then the colleges need to be able to get bums on seats for those courses. Remember, colleges themselves are a business just like any other.

And who knows what the future may hold - arborists won't live forever, hopefully trees will keep growing and more will be planted, people will always want something done to some tree somewhere or other. And a relevant qualification does help to open career doors. And as we know, there are countries that college grads can go to where there is more certainty of there being plenty of work.

Surely it's better for people to go to college and develop an interest in a potential career, than it is for them to loitering around! People can keep on saying things like "saturated industry", but at the end of the day a lot of you who say that are also youngsters who have gone into a saturated industry and made it even more saturated! People will drop out over time, find another career path, retire, etc, just like in EVERY single other industry.

Haha, I'm in my last year of doing the arb degree at Myerscough, plus work for a LA, so doubt it.

But good luck anyway, hope you enjoy it, its great to be in the trees:thumbup:
