The dongle for sure!

Steve,

I uploaded some government documents related to the waste products thread that I started two weeks ago or so, as soon as they were uploaded my computer was advising me to not go into the forum.

I have since had the files deleted from my system and recycle centre and a full clean up, and it doesnt do it anymore..

These files may be corrupting your site. Not sure why, what, or how, but just incase you need to delete the thread.

Sorry, but i can not remember the title of it.

Regards

Jaime

Thanks Jamie. Your files werent the problem. The 2 week time frame you mention ties in about right with a problem we did have which was quickly rectified....for some reason it took google 2 weeks to suddenly decide the site was unsafe after the problem had been fixed

Well I had the prob, about 2 weeks ago

Browsed arbtalk as normal

Avast flagged up malware & I got 14 Trojans which attacked my laptop

Couldn't remove them normally so had to take it to a computer geek, who sorted it in Linux

Cost me a few beer tokens

He said it was a new virus launched on 17/8 & avast hadn't patched it

Guess I was unlucky?

Is it safe now?

Yes, google re-reviewed the site and gave it the all clear.

Can never guarantee safety though unfortunately. All any website can do is ensure all software is up to date with the latest security patches, which we do. Ultimately its up to the end user to make sure their own machines are covered with the most up to date anti virus software also.

Incidentally, you must have picked up quite a number of those trojans from other sites too as there were only 4 pieces of malicious code found here.

btw....if you had the problem 2 weeks ago which would put us around about 7/8, how is your computer guy saying the virus was launched on 17/8 :confused1:
