My defenders handbrake light will do this if the hand brake isn't pushed fully down, could be worth checking the ratchet for any obstruction stopping it from seating properly, ???

 

Ok. Will have a look. The light works fine when I pull the brake up and goes off when push down.

 

No light when I wiggle or knock the lever.

 

Have had the gearbox down to change the clutch arm recently.

 

Just don't want it coming on while I'm driving down the road.

Defiantly and should be first thing to check as above check brake fluid level

No brake fluid on the handbrake.

 

Could be worth pulling rear prop off and cover and having a look at the linkage in there. May not be releasing fully so it's tickling the sensor.

On my Defender the same warning light is used for handbrake and fluid level. Unless the fluid level is right up to the full mark, the light flickers especially if you brake going downhill.

Yeh, there's only one light on the dash. Serves for hand brake on, fluid level low, and also pad wear limit if fitted with wired pads.

HI 18 on my 110 tipper i get lots wheel bearings front come lose all the time say 8/12 weeks they need a tight up whats up with them it not just in the woods thanks jon

That's the bit I wasn't sure on. There are no wires on brake pads, so it not that. Will check the fluid level tomoz.

 

It does appear to have a leak on the front passenger wheel, but wasn't sure if it was brake fluid or the hub leaking.

Not real sure Jon. I've hammered landies for years and never come across that with mine.

 

Then again, I only do something to mine if something falls off, or it won't drive down the road. That's what they're designed for, right?

Is the split pin in there??

 

And they are being done up enough. If I remember from doing mine it was tight until the wheel starts to jam and then 1/8th turn off.
