The weather there is VERY hot here and the land is bone dry from extreme drought so it was a great way to aclimatise.I cycled hundereds of miles whilst i was there. And on her days off we cycled together.

My first hike was a bit of an eye opener. This whole mountain side was burned when a fire came through not long ago  scorching everything.Nothing but baron land and burnt trees all the way to the Pacific Coast Highway.

Fire is a big problem there. But what about the other trees i saw? My favourite of all was the Canary date Palm and Phoenix...Quite different to anything i had ever seen before.I find them so beautiful and majestic with their feathery fronds.
