Sounds like faulty sensor or the camshaft has slipped or timing belt.

Any funny noises, or wierd happenings? Disconnect battery for a while and reconnect see if it carries on.

used to happen on mine when pulling big loads never could get to the bottom of it. letting the turbo heat up before towing helped, so did changing the engine oil that was on a 2003 one driving a 2010 now and no problems with her

Definatly sounds like those sensors ,cuts the turbo real pain when it happens check no wire attached to the sensors have come loose from vibrations whilst driving hope your able to find it and sort it

Do a thread search on this , i think it was possibly me that started it . There was good answers the best being get shot :001_smile:

PS.. pull over , switch off engine . Wait couple minutes , restart , wait till black smoke dissappears thats it sorted ( till next time ) and just dont accelerate too hard :001_smile:

Yep, my 03 eml keeps coming on, and when it does the engine flutters a little and loses power, sometimes it goes out and at other times I turn off the engine then re start and everything is fine, I plan on getting it sorted-living in fear its not the turbo on its way out, about 2k worth, hope you get things fixed ok...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
