Piston question

Whilst we are on about changing pistons!! When you have removed the piston head and you hold the con rod there is very slight play from side to side does this mean the big end bearing has to be changed because its allowing the piston to move diagnally in the cylinder or is there a tolerance?

The side to side play is normal and you will not be able to change the big end bearing on most crankshafts down to the way they are manufactured anyway.

The important thing is that you have close to zero play in the up and down direction and the big end cage is in one piece!

Hi spud I have had a look on eBay for mentioned pistons, I can only find them in the USA. Is this where you get them from? I found piston and cylinder with a company called ghs and mister solution, do you know if these pistons and cylinders are any good?

Just looked, could only find this one from Israel, I have go them from Tesgol and also from Latvia and Greece before, not tried this chap - Meteor Piston kit for HUSQVARNA 50 51 (45mm) - Replaces 503 16 77-01, 503167701 | eBay

The pistons are worth waiting for!

I have used kits from GHS and Mister solutions, they are OK but still reckon the OEM cylinder, cleaned up with a Meteor piston is the way to go!
