Norway Spruce trees suffering ?

Green spruce aphid the sitka's up here are being hit hard

bad over this side of the country as well (fort-william) every tree in our young plantation seems affected -been told most will recover but will be "stunted" by about 5 years anyone know if this is correct

Hi all , just wondered if anyone could help me with info on Norway spruce trees losing there inner needles suddenly. The last 6 inches of the branches are still green and the top crown is fine. I have seen six trees in the last month in the midlands area. There are no signs of insects or decay. Maybe it is due to the very wet weather? can anyone help , Cheers Chris

I have got the same in somerset and can only think its the lack of rain i have looked at everything else, I will not be able to sell any this year just hope they recover for next year. This year is turning into a real jubalimpic crap year.

What is the long term outlook for trees with Green Spruce Aphid? Do they recover? do the lost needles return?

Just looked at one today only about 15ft tall and losing the inner needles. thought it was drought:001_smile:

worked on a spruce and a blue pine tree and both had healthy tips and die back in the centre. I also concluded that it was caused by the draught as there are no other signs of distress.

Dismantled one at the weekend that was healthy, just in the wong place and reaching for the stars.
