It all has to be pretty much matched mate, the engine needs to have enough guts to turn the pump rigour stalling, the pump needs to have enough flow to move the ram at an acceptable speed the ram needs to have enough diameter to go be sufficient force, the valve block and pipe work need to be big enough ot to restrict the flow.

Best bet ms to start with a ram that will do the job and source the other parts to suit.

nobodys wants to know andy ive rang 2 firms now and unless i can reel all the part numbers off they dont seem to want to give any advice! ive already got a 5.5 hp honda engine so i was going to go from there. can i run any pump off that engine? whats the difference between group 1 2 and 3 pumps?

5.5 is a bit weedy but it will run a pump, your engine should give you a top end of 4 gallons per min.

You can get that out of a group 1 or 2 pump, the smaller the group the smaller the frame of the pump and the output range.

Sorry if this is thread-jacking,

I had a similar idea to make a vertical splitter from a JCB ram to fit my tractor (Leyland 272) anyone know what sort of valve I'd need to to do this?

Does the return from the valve go into the top of the block on the tractor?

I've rang them 3 times as they keep saying somebody will call me back with the info I need! That was 3 days ago!

I'm going onto Ludlow in a minute? Want me to go give them a rocket?!
