Hi,

Firstly thank you if you came and for sticking out some of the worst weather (fri, sat) we've had in a while.

So i will give a little ramble about the event and then the results.

So the Husqvarna European 25m Pole Climbing Championship was Held at the Three Counties Show in Malvern, Shropshire. The first two days are the Three Counties Show competition and the third was the Europeans, all of which were sponsored by Husqvarna and the carabiners supplied by Rock Exotica.

Day one saw some fast times even in the intermittent wet weather with Patrick Hayes comfortably taking the experts 1st place for the day and David Teasdale in the Tree Surgeon class. Then there was the bar a campfire and around about 12:30am i went to bed.

Day two RAIN and lots of it!! some sections of the campsite (thankfully not our part) turned into a river. Everyone still went up and times reminded pretty much the same. Big thanks to Chris Wheatley and his belay teams for standing out in it whilst the climbs ran.

Ben Lightfoot took the tree surgeon class win in which he was clearly in control throughout the day. Patrick Hayes taking the Expert but given a close run by Grant Gallier who seemed to have some rotten luck in the top 15ft of the climb.

So Day 3 and SUNSHINE!!!! the weather broke and the temperature soared (for England that is). Nerves started to kick in with some doing worse times in the first couple of heats and other setting new personal bests. The final runs had a large crowed and even the bird of preys display bird stopped off for a few seconds to watch from the top of pole 2. David teasdale taking the win in Tree Surgery class after being denied the top spot for so long through slips and bad luck. Grant took the Expert class but Patrick chased all the way.

The times through the tables are also very close with 5th-8th in Expert being separated by 0.87 of a second and 2nd-3rd in Tree Surgery by 0.25 of a second.

If your thinking of having a go give please do, even if its just for a single run or just one day. You never know you might get hooked on it.

Ian
