Salt would usually give darkened/scorched leaves though, wouldn't it?

Either way, if they do salt the drive, it's not good as it drains straight into the root area

Does anyone know if this leaf shows a lack of nutrients or nutrient. This is from an avenue of cherry trees that haven't been touched in years. I'm in the process of remedial pruning them all, taking out rubbing and crossing branches, I have noticed they are sparsely leafed. They have had something chewing on the leaves but not significantly.

I'm just thinking they need a good feed??

It's chlorosis, possibly from canker in the graft unions

And it does look like its almost intervienal chlorosis, so magnesium would be my shout too

Those roots need help, can you give the chips back to the trees as mulch? this would also buffer salt runoff or other pollution. also the buttress roots do not seem quite visible, so root collar exposure seems like another idea. Girdling roots can cause or aggravate other issues.

They are ornamental and have white to slightly pink blossom

I think you are spot on with that leaf tip and flower, pale pink fading to white (flower that is)

Deano, what's the adjacent land use? Its looks like a field, but I can't quite tell what's in it.

Feeding them isn't going to do any harm.

 

Is there a broad spectrum fertiliser and application method that will feed mainly the trees and not the grass ?

Fertilizer applied without the buffering and other benefits of mulch may well do harm. The ANSI standard calls for soil modification needs to be addressed before fert.
