That looks pretty good and quick although i dont like the idea of doing a changeover with ascenders with no backup hitch ect.

My thought's entirely. One attachment via toothed ascender is not good. Looks bloody efficient though. Not sure about him saying that you can work in the sit position, working off ascenders?

It certainly looks efficient......just the sheer size of the gear puts me off though. Whilst every effort is being made in SRT to slim down the system elsewhere, this guy has found a really good and easy way to ascend SRT but at the expense of this.

Looks good for access but, for me the steps are massive and would make the legs burn after a while and as said I don't think a back up would do any harm. wouldn't fancy dragging it around the canopy either! Think the use of a cows tail same as caving would help with the obstacle for safety?

Would the stick not be a pain in the a**e if you're rope was running over a branch or that? Can't imagine it having a very long life...

I reckon I could rope walk faster than that if I was willing to put in as much effort as him.

It's not a new idea but I don't dispute that it's probably the first time someone has applied it to tree work. I can see the advantage for long ascents but as others have said, the system isn't what you could call minimalist.

Dave Allport from Troll (as was) once did something very similar with the Royal marines for some sort of sponsored rope ascent. They called it rope running, those blokes were fit and hugely competitive and they went like lightning.

Anything to save energy on a long haul up a big tree is going to be on my list!

We send saws up and down all day long, so why not send it back down if you don't need it with you once at the top.
