Retreivable friction anchor

Hi all to save money on buying a Teufelberger Pulleysaver which cost a fortune but are slick,could i use the 1 ive made from my own kit? would it work?

What are the pros and cons of it,

 

The over hand knott would substitute the retriever ball.

Could i make it better?..cheers Colin

Works fine i use this set up with the same stein cambium saver, this topic has also been covered before have a search on it.

Yep that ll work bro. Not as frictionless as a pulleysaver but smoother than a standard ring n ring. Just be careful retrieving it as you can damage the crab- maybe use a maillon Instead? And just buy a retrieval ball, they just work better:)

thats ok mate but change the crab for a mailon mate as there could be a slight chance of the gate opening on the crab.....

I use the same stein cambium saver, problem i found is more often than not, the 'over hand knott' gets stuck going thro the red ring.. annoying up a 60ft beech.. i now use a spliced eye on my climbing line with a retrieval ball..

some have said change to a mailon but the screw gate dosnt open wide enough to pass the small ring on the friction saver through?

Defo forget the Knot....the cherry ball is a must and only cost a couple of quid...

leave the ring and put the maillon through the webbing eye that the ring is in bro

I have just done what drew recommended, using a pulley instead of just the rings makes it so much easier. I went down to a big ash by the river and tried it out and it was class. It seems to take way less effort to move around with the pulley.
