I agree, it does look like Einhell. Does anyone know if Einhell manufacture their own kit, or is it bought from China. It certainly looks and feels chinese.

I come across many people who have bought this type of thing and never used it as there have been multiple faults straight out of the box.

Do yourselves a big favour guys. and dont be tempted. If you buy cheap, you buy twice.

Far be from me to disagree with Spud, but I think it's an Einhell. It looks exactly like the rebadged Einhell that B&Q sells.

45CC Petrol Chain Saw, 5052931015177

If it is (I reckon it is) then it'll be fine for a while and then the oil pump will pack up.

That's the one, apart from the starter assembly casing being black it is a carbon copy!

And you are right, the oil pump failed which is why i returned it in the first place!

Same as anything you get what you pay for. Bin it and buy a good second hand one i am shore spud would be able to sort a good second hand saw that will give you years of hassle free cutting. :001_smile:

I agree, you do get what you pay for. Trouble is I had no idea how much I was going to use it before I bought one!!

Have spoken to the oracle that is Spud and depending on the outcome of this saga will be knocking on his door.

I think einhell is basically just a posh sounding name for Chinese tat.I don't know if they ever made stuff in Europe.

I think that Zomax -

Chain saw_ZM5200_Zhejiang Zomax Garden Machinery Co. Ltd

are the Chinese manufacturers of this tat, I reckon they just colour and brand it for other companies. That was my take on it when I looked in to these saws. some time ago.

I think all the other companies are just names with some form of distribution networks in Europe etc.

The recoil cover looks different to the one I had, but the rest of it looks very similar.

On the Einhell website it says they manufacture some kit and buy in others - I believe that Zomax are the manufacturers for all these generic saws in the marketplace but could be wrong.

I don't reckon zomax make einhell saws since einhell make b&q, spear and Jackson, Draper and probably many more. Unless zomax and einhell are actually the same company.

Moot really since its all crap and all Chinese. There's a picture somewhere of einhells HQ, and that seemed to be in china rather than Germany...

I think John Ruskin (1819-1900) must have had a time machine and foreseen this Chinese tat.

He wrote

"It is unwise to pay too much, but its unwise to pay too little.

When you pay too much you lose a little money, thats all.

When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing you bought it to do.

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot.

It can't be done.

If you deal with the lowest bidder it's well to add something for the risk you run.

And if you do that, you will have enough to pay for something better"

What a very wise man he was.

Spud is right on the money here . It is a Zomax .made in China town . Total tosh . Its a shame .The Chinese can make some good stuff but if they are only getting pence for it they will make it for pence ! Other manufacturers wont do that to the degree the Chinese do . It gives them a bade name and deservedly . If you asked a firm to build a chainsaw for £50 they would laugh in your face but the chinks will oblige .
