Thought I would start a thread comparing these two fine products, I have both of them and always favoured the sj until recently I have been using the lj and I think the lj is a better tool I find the sj is great for rec climbs but in a work situation I think the lj wins. Please share your views on them both negatives and positives.

i like the natural feel of the hitch. and i really don't mind slack tending myself, which seems to be one of the main things about the sj.

the only thing i slightly miss about the sj is the one handed adjustments out on limbs.

I'm interested to know what your preferences are.

Ok. The reason I favour the lockjack is because you can pull slack out of the top also I find it locks off better than the sj.the sj is great for finer control but once your cam wears in and you get used to the lj it becomes the same. Another positive of the lj is that when you need a little more line in a tight situation you can yank the toggle which automatically gives you a little more slack with sj you can't do this. Also with the sj I have caught the lever a couple of times which has lead to me dropping. Don't get me wrong the sj is superb, and finer at slack tending but for a all round package the lj in my eyes is easier to work with.if I was in a big open crown I would favour the sj, But I don't often come across trees that suit it. maybe if I was in gums everyday then it would be the right tool.
