I applaude you for wanting to be insured but dont you think its a bit cheaky asking lads on here for advice when for most of them its there only income that you will possibly be taking when getting your jobs.

Esp in the current climate.....

Arb lads/ladies are good people and will offer you advice but if this was a site for another industry you wouldnt get a single reply....

Just food for thought :sneaky2:

ummmmmmm.......Food for thought/ I dont know mate. This is indeed Arbtalk is it not, a site to swap opinions and general advice. I have not forced people for their response and they do so at their own 'risk' if u would call it that. And also I (myself) must make a living. I dont advertise, I have my own contacts and pay others who work with me. I get my jobs by doing good work and recommendations. People before starting a business, surely built up steady private jobs first. I personally think your view on this subjact is slightly selfish and narrow minded. And I am very grateful for the 'arb lads and ladies' comments. If I could help someone I would.

Thanks:banghead:

I have witnessed a cracking arboricultural company go bust today, they were run properly with all the relevent insurance and equipment etc etc. There was one big flaw in their biz that they couldnt actually control and that is part time tree loppers who operate on a part time basis with no insurance and crap non HSE standard equipment - this means no overheads and they can work for bugger all.

What you actually said is that you do a fair bit of part time work and your post points out that you are currently working without insurance which in my opinion makes you a tree lopper and not an arborist no matter how good you actually are at your job :mad1:

My next comment is are you declaring your extra income to the taxman, this is another way that part timers keep there cost down and screw the proffesional buisnesses.

Tully i am sorry that you are getting the brunt of this but there are alot of people out there who will operate like this forever unless something within the industry is done. Like i said i applaude you for now getting the insurance that you MUST have to operate.

BY THE WAY TRY TRUST THEY ARE ONE OF THE BEST IN THE INDUSTRY FOR INSURANCE
