Help with a Valuation

I took down a poplar the other day, and the guy let me take away a truck full of rings. I chose the nice splittable rings, nothing was too knotty The condition of the tree was pretty good, very little rot.

 

 

Today i split everything, i am hoping to sell it all in one lot. I figure if all the rings fit in my truck, the logs should still fit in as well I would charge a fee for the logs, plus a £20 delivery or something if they don't want to collect.

 

 

Can you guys help me with a rough estimation of value? I guess my ballpark figure would be £70 or so, considering its poplar (which I understand not to be great) and its very green, would require over summer seasoning. If anybody could give me estimations as to the size in m3 or the weight of my pile, that would be sweet, so i can describe it a little better

Hi, it's not good wood, and not worth a lot of money, just try to get what you can there is maybe 2 cube there.

When its dry I get £70 a cubic meter for it the same as all other hardwood I sell. although that is wet you've still put the same work into it. I think 70 quid is a very fair price for that, providing whoever you sell it to has provision to dry it sufficiently.

I'm loving seasoned softwood at the moment as I've a lot of unseasoned oak and it's great for starting the fire- you will find someone who values it similarly

I would say there's two cube there, If it was dry i would sell it for $130 (65 pounds) if it was dry with free local delivery- upto say 5 mile.

 

Cos its wet i would charge $100 (50 pounds) but thats just me in little old NZ

try offering it to a few local pubs. i shift all my pop to my local, once its dry it burns lovely and i do it for him cheaper then my standard hardwood
