No HNC in the North East???

Recommended Posts

Just got back from Kirkley where I spoke with Nick Johnson, they are not doing the Foundation Degree this year due to a falling out with Newcastle College & Sunderland Uni, should be back on for next year though. at a cost of approx £700 per year.

Im signed onto the RFS which is £600 and starts in September and finishes in June 2013, this runs on a Tuesday evening which suits me down to the ground!

This course has also changed from being exam based to being module based which again suits me better.

I did my NC at houghall in 98/99 and had dave bentley, clive parker, paul elcoat and tony pinkerton as my lecturers. It was just as East Durham Community College was getting involved and the England Womens football Academy was there. Fond memories of the hospital field and the beech woodland. My trial plot was next door to the stables:biggrin: so not much work was done :blushing:

Good for you Chris!...£600 is reasonable for that course..Also seems there are a few Houghal Arbs on here...it WAS a great college. Dave Bentley taught me well and i still climb the way he taught me all those years ago...(except i use a Spiderjack now). the Horsey Girls were a Bonus!...

Im looking for a new climbing system but not too sure with the spider-jack, anything else you'd recommend? :thumbup1:

Mate...you need to step up a gear! You cannot beat rope on rope for no nonsense climbing with less to break provided you inspect your rope prussick krabs often...BUT....Mech tech is the way forward...i recently re pollarded a huge London Plane...not a hip thrust or prussick slide needed. For me it,s the S.j but Chris you gotta try a Hitch climber set up...once you sus it which shouldn,t take long you will never look back!...try hitch and if you like it then go Mech!
