Tree Austria 3 - waist belt always loosening?

I should have asked this question 2 years ago when I got the harness.

 

Does anyone else with this harness (it's not a 3.1) have trouble with the waist strap slowly working loose during a climb? Very annoying when you've swapped to a big saw and it suddenly feels like the harness is about to slip off your waist.

 

The original bits of elastic are still intact but stretched beyond usefulness. Not sure they ever prevented the straps from working loose anyway.

 

At the moment I just use some insulation tape to stop the buckle from sliding.

 

Maybe the quick release buckles were improved on the 3.1 version?

yep, mine does that too, i always have to give it a bit of a tighten especially for the big saw like you say. its a good harness though so i don't mind too much but it can get a bit annoying.

Yup mine done this to so I got rid of it.

I think every harness I've ever used (except the Weaver which had a belt buckle fastening) did this, just have to keep tightening the wast band through out the day.

I used the same weaver for over ten years and the buckle fastening is Bombproof...Extremely robust harness.(made by the Amish folk)...but been using an Austria 2 (Grey and Red) for a year now and have had no problems...only occasionaly have to tighten the leg loops.

Thanks for all the replies. I just never seem to hear any other climbers complaining about the ever loosening waist strap on their harnesses.

 

Great harness except for that minor issue.
