When I renewed my waste carriers licence a couple of months ago there was some thing on the reminder letter that came, about some changes, that arb waste and garden green waste would`nt need a carriers licence, if I remember right. I`ll try and dig it out later to look again.

Dont know if that was just carrying waste, or if you charge to remove it (directly).

I only carry the waste from my own jobs, not clear-ups. :001_smile:

Im a bit confused by it all to be honest! All I know is that I dont feel we should need it.

Paul Smith would be the person to clarify the facts.

If I have to keep renewing my WCL just to make things simple then I will, its not expensive, I just dont think I get anything out of having it.

If in doubt just get it, its very simple form filling.

I wouldn't class wood chip or timber as waste anyway as all my chip goes to allotments, golf courses or people's gardens, where it gets used, if I take it to my yard it rots down to compost which I sell. The timber goes for logs.

It may only be needed for hedge clippings or stuff that I burn. No doubt we will need a licence to fart next:)

Rupe, the thing the WCL does for us is to make it easier to earn money. We'll do landscaping or whatever, and quite happily charge the customer if they happen to have a whole heap of rubbish they want trailered away. If doing just rubbis it's possible to take away several lots of rubbish from different customers, £50 each, 5 or 6 customers, then dispose of at the recycling centre at £60+vat per tonne, that's a good few quid for not much effort on days when little else to do.

Yes, for that kind of work its very much needed. And, I guess, you can show the client the license if you need to, to prove your not a flytipper and to justify the costs?

(Not that you should have to justify anything of course!)
