Just ordered one, will lose me a few pounds over xmas by leaving the tractor and splitter in the container and doing some by hand

did you order the axe sharpner as well? its a handy bit of kit for the axes and knifes as well, couple of draws through once a week keeps them razor sharp!

I love splitting by hand, its the dogs for beefing up youre back.

use a fibreglass handle maul...nothing like the satisfying crack of a nice big round splitting..

I've never tried to split it dry...we only split that up because we had to carry it all out down 2 flights of stone steps.

 

Do you dry it and burn it then matty..??

why thanks for the great tip ill try and remember it for next time i have a eucy to do and i have all the time in the world....i did the same last time i felled a eucy found it in the heap yesterday in quarter rings ,stuff is like trying to split rocks!

I find that the worst bit about splitting by hand is picking up the wood which seems to feel it is its duty to fly away as far as possible.

i can split 2 loads of logs in a day with my axe,then my back says 'no thanks' to anymore.
