Advertising that works for you

Recommended Posts

Due to an awfuly quiet April/May i am exploring new advertising avenues, has any body advertised on local radio?

Is there an easy way to locate a list of recently sold property?

What forms of advertising do you do and what works well?

Hi Chris,

If you want to target properties that are being sold/bought, why don’t you approach your local estate agents?

Many businesses are happy to affiliate themselves with another that compliments what they do. If you pitch it right you may get any tree / garden work that may come along in the rented properties they manage aswell.

There are a number of advertising opportunities that might work for your business, local radio isn’t a bad idea, but this would work best if it’s part of other advertising you do as otherwise a random mention on the radio won’t mean much to people on its own. I’ve had a think as to what might work and listed a few ideas below:

• Business listings – i.e. Yell.com, Thompson Local. Paid advertising on these is most effective, but the free listings are also good as not only can people find you on there, the website link is also good for your website SEO (Google Rankings)

• Local classified - if there is a free local publication then this is a great way to advertise your business as you’re hitting your target market directly

• Leaflets – I would look at putting your business leaflets in places like garden centres, DIY stores, agricultural stores, equestrian stores, etc - target your stores aimed at the kind of people who may have need of your services

If this is at all useful for you, I'd be happy to put together a more detailed marketing document with further ideas and post it on the forum.

Good Luck with your marketing! :001_smile:

Jessica

Being a regular poster on a trade forum seems to work for me. If only there wss one for the Arb industry :001_rolleyes:

Ive actually had people contact me because i post on here, some of these are professionals of the highest level. They also follow my progress here, as guests. This is why i always urge others to consider carefully what they post, and how they come across to the wider audience. Of course, some just dont care what others think of them :001_rolleyes:

It's a good point Andy - if a customer comes onto arbtalk and sees your business it's easy to press on the name and then look at what else that person has posted...... something to be aware about really.

Out of all the things I write in replies I only post around 40% after I have re read them.... once it's out there it's out there!

Popped down to see my work mate on a job yesterday morning at 10am (I had the day off), and he'd already had another 3 calls. The phone had been dead apart from calls re PPI, and now we're getting calls every day. There is a distinct possibility that we will be acquiring another truck and employee or two if things continue like this. Fingers crossed we might even be able to replace the trusty but ageing Greenmech!

A very valid point Andy and Rob D. Also remember that posting on the internet - whether here, facebook, twitter etc could be deemed gross misconduct or bringing your employer / a n other organisation into disrepute.

I know that makes me sound like a boring old whoppee cushion :blushing:
